Abducktion

“A Weirdly Strategic Duck Kidnapping Game”
Abducktion has been an absolute favorite in my apartment over the past month. While acting as an alien research intern, you aim to move your ducks into different color formations. Once you complete a formation, you can collect your ducks, complete “research,” and gain points. The winner is the player with the most points. You start each turn with three action cards. These cards allow you to move ducks on your board. Some action cards will enable you to abduct ducks from other people’s boards to cause chaos and foil other players’ plans. For example, one of the rarer cards is called the blackhole. The blackhole allows you to abduct all of one color of ducks in play. This forces all players to adjust their board by moving remaining ducks downstream and refilling their ponds. Gameplay ends after all 12 formations have been created. Players tally up their scores from all their completed formations. It’s fast to learn and easy to pick up. Players who may not enjoy intense strategy games will enjoy this more strategy-light game while stretching their spatial awareness and organization muscles.
The game design and unique artwork add to the fun! The base game comes with 80 sturdy and adorable multicolored plastic ducks. The UFO that stores all ducks that are not in active gameplay is an innovative design and well-built game piece. Everyone loved giving the UFO a good shake to “Shuffle the ducks.” Moving all the ducks downstream and everyone fighting to “Get your ducks in a row”
I also highly recommend the IntergalacDuck Research Expansion; not only does it let you play with two more players than the base game, but it adds additional cards and research pods to allow for the ability to create more complex patterns and the opportunity to gain even more points. The addition of highly coveted Glitter ducks that act as wild cards and add extra points to your score at the end enables an extra level of revenge and chaos to the game and encourages large numbers of abducktion. If you’re looking for a fun and easy-to-learn game to play with family and friends who aren't as experienced with more strategic games, this one will surely fit the bill!
